Gays in the ministry

Is the forthcoming Vatican document that reaffirms the Church's position that homosexuals should not become priests likely to bring lapsed Catholics back to the church or produce more alienation?

Depends on one's political stance, I would think. As a politically liberal lapsed Catholic, it will alienate me for sure. For those yearning for the days of Latin mass and Vatican I, it will likely inspire them anew.

I wonder if there are many people left yearning for the Latin mass. Maybe Mel Gibson and the members of his immediate family...

It seems like a large number of defectors, like many of us, left because of a sense of alienation and hypocrisy. I can't imagine this latest disapprobation is going to help.

Latin Masses are actually quite popular in many areas.

unfortunately there are no latin masses in my neighbourhood...or i wud attend...i still keep & use my latin/english missal & breviary az well az my church slavonic/english prayerbook (frum my monastik daze)...im not stupid tho...i kno that the catholiks who truck to latin masses are far more conservative than benny16...& wud do ther level best to shun me...but i loved the latin liturgy...it was always an incredibly moving xperience...i miss it...most roman catholik churches today are so incredibly lutheran in the liturgy...i dont care for the novus ordum @all...it leaves me cold...which iz why i attend the episkopal church these daze...our altar still rests against the wall & the liturgy iz very high chuch...very anglo-catholik...even tho the liturgy iz in english...@least the ritual of the mass is mysterious & uplifting spiritually for me

Well, the way I see it, whether You're Gay, or straight, when You become a Priest You take a vow of Chastity, don't you??

All of those energies, such as they are, are supposed to be channeled for Gods purpose.

I for One don't believe that God give one moment of thought about your sexual preferences...

I just can't see an all Powerful, Omnipotent, Loving, and Forgiving God wasting time on such trivial things...

          Just my Humble oppinion.
